“Weathertex is the perfect product. It is timber, it does not split and it is relatively cost effective.”

Peter Downes Background
I began as a cadet engineer. I was attending university at night and working during the day as a draftsman, for which I had a natural flare. After a few years, I was earning as much as an engineer, so I dropped out of university. The mining industry was really booming at the time so I had the opportunity to work all over Australia, in particular in some remote parts, designing and project managing; it was a really exciting time.
Peter Downes Design
I think the most important thing is to respect the site characteristics. Every site has good and bad points. The idea is to take all of these into account, and create a design which maximizes the good points and minimize the bad points. I believe that each site has one perfect design that achieves this outcome.
